Growth Hacks that will Spike your Website Traffic

1. Make your Website Content Shareable

If you or your business runs a blog, make sure others can share it.

Nowadays, if people like what they see online, the share it with others. This can be done with the click of a button. If you don’t have this set up on your site yet, you can easily add a plugin to do the job.

The good thing is that there are many free share button plugins that can easily be installed on your website. Some of the popular ones are: AddToAny, AddThis, and SimpleShareButtons.

When you install plugins like these, be sure to include the top social media sites in the buttons to be seen. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest are 4 very popular social media sites that users share to regularly.

Popular share button plugins are: AddToAnyAddThis, and SimpleShareButtons
(Tip: Don’t include all of the buttons but add a “+” that users can click on to view other social sites to share the content to.)

2. Comment on Popular Blogs/Forums

This is one strategy that has helped me with several sites, resulting in a big increase in traffic. Commenting on blogs does spectacular things for you, your brand, and your website, but it must be done the right way in order for it to work.

Two ways to do this are:

  1. Write comments that are of value.
  2. Write comments that help people.

You should always remember that posting comments is not something that you want to mess up. Your comments should give VALUABLE content to users.

If they look like spam, or just self-promoting posts for your product, administrators and other users will ignore your comments.

There are a lot of blogs out there. You just need to list down those that are in the same industry/niche as your site.

Again, make sure that when you are commenting on blogs and forums that your answers don’t look like spam and that you are just promoting your brand/website/product/service. Make your comments are unique and useful so that users will appreciate and respond to it.

3. Get Listed on Relevant Sites

Getting listed on relevant websites, I believe, is one of growth hacks that takes a lot of time but usually brings the best results in.

You can do this several ways. I personally just search Google for relevant sites based on keywords and topics.

There are some programs that you could use to do this type of hack, but of course you would have to fork out money to just subscribe to those programs. If you have the money, then why not go for it?

I usually tell people how to do it the free way, but you can do it whatever way you like as long as the job gets done, right?

Here are some reminders when trying to get listed on relevant websites:

  1. Make sure that the sites are relevant.
  2. Be nice, friendly and professional to the site owner.
  3. Ask nicely and not sound like they owe it to you.
  4. Give a good reason for them to add your website/product.

These are just simple reminders, but they are important.

I have often find that many people just don’t know how to do it the right way anymore. Some sound like they are demanding you to list them. Those I disregard. I also find that many blog owners will respond and list you if you are just nice to them.

4. Ask Leaders in the Industry to Review your Product

One of the more effective methods I found is reaching out to leaders in the same industry, and asking them to review the product or service you are offering.

This isn’t just about getting a mention. It’s more of like asking them if there’s anything they see in your product/service that might make people buy or use it.

These people have tried many products and services, so they know what works and what doesn’t. They can also point out what could be improved. Some have different features and specifications, but if you gather enough information, you would see what your offerings lack to make them better.

If your offering is good enough, it can also help them. If it helps them then they will definitely recommend it to their group of friends or even to their followers on social.

I found that this, done the right way, is a hack that brings an increase in traffic. You just have to reach out to them and give it a shot.

(Make sure that you don’t sound like you are selling the product to them in the first email or tweet. Build a relationship first.)

5. Promote Industry-Related Content from other Popular Blogs

Another hack to get an increase in website traffic and brand awareness is by promoting other industry-related content. If you are trying to stay up-to-date on a specific topic or industry, read the relevant blogs

These guys spend hours in creating content and producing it, so why not take advantage of that great content and use it for everyone’s benefit?

Every blogger wants to see their post shared a thousand times (who doesn’t?). While not all posts enjoy this privilege, shared something even a few times, can make it reach more people.

When you share a popular blog in your industry and include hashtags, your brand will start getting known. Doing so means more will start following you and start visiting your site as well.

6. On-page SEO

On-page SEO is one of the most important to focus on when it comes to getting more website traffic. By implementing the on-page SEO and doing it the right way, every time you post content on your website you will see a spike in your website traffic.

On-page factors that need to be in place to see a spike in website traffic are the following.

  • Title Tags
  • Meta Descriptions
  • URL Structure
  • H1 & H2 Header Tags
  • Images & ALT Tags
  • Internal Linking
  • XML Sitemap
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Page Speed
  • Great Content

If all of the above elements are in place and pass the search engine guidelines and standards, this is sure to see an increase in website traffic.  There are more areas for on-page SEO that would need to be implemented, but the ones listed above are the ones that you need to get in place at the start.

7. Submit your Website to get Crawled

According to Google, one way to get more traffic on your website is by submitting all of your pages to the Google index – for free.

Search rankings are important when it comes to the success of your website. Optimizing it can be hard and frustrating, but the end result is rewarding.

If your website is already hooked up with Google Search Console, you can visit the Crawl Stats to see how many pages of your website are crawled by Google per day. You might see an increase, decrease or even a steady line for crawls. If it hasn’t been increasing you need to diagnose the problem and see what you need to do to fix it. Below are some areas that you should check.

8. Use Content to Build Trust and a Good Name

Content plays a huge role more than ever. Today, Google focuses a lot more on the quality of content that a website is giving to users.

You can rank significantly higher on Google just by producing great content. You don’t need to focus on keywords unlike years ago.

Focus on writing stories and giving that to users. Doing this will boost the growth in your website traffic and increase your brand awareness.

According to Glen Dimaandal of GDI Philippines – Take note that content marketing isn’t some magical pill that you can take to instantly improve your business. Just in the same way that content is worthless unless it is compelling and focused towards your readers; content marketing is only effective if you are able to build rapport and trust with your audience over time.

Glen nails it with that quote, and he’s right, it’s not a magical pill. You need to build that trust and eventually you will have a good name on the web and it will bring that traffic that you’ve always wanted.

So there you have it folks, those are my 8 growth hacks that will spike your website traffic and brand awareness. Now it’s up to you to go and get that traffic!
